Cleanroom Panel Industry knowledge

Pharma United is a Cleanroom Panel manufacturer and turnkey cleanroom supplier with two production bases in Kunshan and Qianjiang, China. We manufacture steel-faced sandwich panels for cleanroom walls, ceilings and full enclosure systems, with rockwool, aluminum honeycomb, paper honeycomb, PIR, PU, XPS or EPS cores. From GMP pharmaceutical lines to electronics assembly areas, the same panels are used in our own turnkey cleanroom projects, so panel selection, surface finish and installation details stay consistent across the envelope.

Within the Cleanroom Products range, this category covers partition and ceiling panels, matching doors and windows, and the panel elements used in modular cleanroom PODs. We support both material-only supply and complete packages with cleanroom doors, pass boxes, air showers, laminar flow units and HEPA supply boxes.

Cleanroom Panel Range and Positioning

Each panel line has a different core behavior. We use the table below as a starting point and then refine the choice against fire rating, span, deflection and thermal requirements.

Panel Line Core Where We Specify It
Rockwool Cleanroom Panel Dense rockwool infill Fire-rated pharmaceutical walls and corridors, GMP production zones, ceilings that need acoustic and thermal control.
Alu. Honeycomb Cleanroom Panel Aluminum honeycomb High-flatness, lightweight wall and ceiling panels for biopharmaceutical, laboratory and electronics cleanrooms.
Paper Honeycomb Cleanroom Panel Paper honeycomb Weight-sensitive partitions and ceilings for hospitals, laboratories and controlled electronics areas.
PIR Cleanroom Panel Polyisocyanurate foam Insulated walls and ceilings where thermal performance and fire behavior are both important.
PU Cleanroom Panel Polyurethane foam General cleanroom partitions with good insulation, rigidity and cost-effective performance.
XPS Cleanroom Panel Extruded polystyrene foam Moisture-resistant insulated enclosures for high-humidity or temperature-controlled areas.
EPS Cleanroom Panel Expanded polystyrene foam Economical wall and ceiling panels for controlled factory areas and cleanroom-support spaces.

Surface and Core Selection

Surface finish determines chemical resistance, cleanability and wear. We supply painted steel, laminated HPL, film-coated VCM, stainless steel and Asepticlean surfaces. For pharmaceutical cleanrooms, HPL is frequently specified because it withstands repeated disinfection and is available in low-particle constructions. For high-washdown areas, SS304 panels provide a robust, corrosion-resistant face. For general electronics and food areas, PPGI and HPGI steel keep the panel economical while still providing a smooth, gap-free surface.

Core selection follows the room's physical and regulatory requirements. Rockwool is the first choice where fire integrity and acoustic separation matter. Honeycomb cores are specified for flatness and light weight. PIR and PU foam cores add thermal insulation, XPS handles moisture exposure, and EPS provides an economical solution for less demanding zones. On request, we evaluate alternative core materials where the project target is outside the standard range.

Critical Specifications and Configuration

  • Face materials: PPGI, HPGI, HPL, VCM-coated steel, SS304 and Asepticlean surfaces are available. The rockwool line is produced with 0.6 mm or 0.8 mm steel faces.
  • Core selection: Rockwool, aluminum honeycomb, paper honeycomb, PIR, PU, XPS or EPS. Core density and thickness are selected against fire rating, structural deflection and thermal performance.
  • Thickness: 50 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm are the standard starting points; 60 mm and 80 mm are available on the rockwool line, and other dimensions are finalized during engineering.
  • Surface performance: HPL supports chemical disinfection and cleanability, SS304 suits washdown and mechanical abuse, and honeycomb faces deliver high flatness for electronics and biotech environments.
  • Integration: Door, window, pass box, air shower and HEPA supply box openings are included in the same panel layout to avoid field cutting.

Application Fit by Industry

  • Pharmaceutical and biotech: Rockwool or honeycomb walls with HPL or stainless surfaces for GMP production rooms, changing areas and corridors.
  • Hospital and laboratory: Lightweight honeycomb or economical EPS panels with smooth, disinfectant-resistant finishes for clean wards, labs and sterile storage.
  • Electronics and semiconductor: Flat aluminum honeycomb panels with static-conscious surfaces for particle-sensitive assembly and testing areas.
  • Food processing: Moisture-resistant XPS or PU cores with corrosion-resistant steel faces for high-humidity production lines.

Engineering, Installation and Cleanroom Integration

Panels alone do not make a cleanroom. Our engineering team reviews the complete envelope, including wall-to-ceiling junctions, door and window openings, pass-through locations, and the interfaces with HVAC pressure differentials. For turnkey projects we support design discussion, BIM visualization, on-site installation and validation documentation, including DQ, IQ and OQ preparation for GMP facilities targeting WHO-GMP, EU-GMP, FDA or local requirements.

Because Pharma United also manufactures cleanroom doors, windows, pass boxes, air showers, laminar airflow units and HEPA supply boxes, the panel openings and fixing details are coordinated with the same production drawings. This reduces rework during installation and gives the project team a single coordination point for enclosure and airflow equipment.

Quality Assurance and Project Support

Production takes place in our Kunshan and Qianjiang factories. The Kunshan base operates CNC laser cutters, bending machines and punching machines, and we are China's largest producer of HPL cleanroom panels with 250,000 m² of annual HPL capacity. This in-house control covers panel flatness, dimensional accuracy, surface appearance and edge quality, and it gives us a stable delivery base for containerized international orders.

For GMP projects, we coordinate the panel package with cleanroom classification, pressure cascade, AHU zoning, equipment entry timing and construction documentation. Our team can support the customer from material supply through installation and validation, with the same manufacturing data used during handover and future expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which core material should I choose for a pharmaceutical production area?

For GMP production corridors and high-fire-risk areas, we typically specify Rockwool Cleanroom Panel because the dense mineral core provides fire resistance and acoustic damping. For wall systems where flatness and low weight matter more, Alu. Honeycomb or Paper Honeycomb is commonly used. Foam-core PIR and PU panels suit insulated envelope areas. We finalize the core after reviewing the fire-rating target, room span and humidity requirement.

What surface finishes can be applied to cleanroom panels?

We supply PPGI, HPGI, HPL, VCM-coated steel, SS304 and Asepticlean surfaces. HPL is the preferred choice for pharmaceutical and laboratory areas where chemical resistance and repeated cleaning matter. SS304 is used for high-washdown or mechanically demanding zones, while PPGI and HPGI keep general cleanroom walls economical without sacrificing surface smoothness.

Can the panels be integrated with doors, windows and cleanroom equipment?

Yes. We design the panel layout with openings for cleanroom doors, observation windows, pass boxes, air showers, laminar flow units and HEPA supply boxes before production. Because the same company supplies the panels and the equipment, interfaces are defined in the shop drawings and installation sequence, which reduces site cutting and coordination delays.

Do you supply panels only or can you install the cleanroom envelope?

Both options are available. We supply panel-only packages for projects with their own installation contractor, and we also support full installation, validation documentation and after-sales service through our turnkey team. For overseas GMP projects, we can work with the owner, consultant and local contractors to coordinate the enclosure, HVAC zoning and equipment interfaces.

What project information do you need for an accurate cleanroom panel quotation?

Send us a dimensioned room layout with ceiling height, wall and ceiling areas, door and window openings, target ISO or GMP class, fire-rating requirements and surface finish preference. With that information, our engineers can propose the core type, panel thickness, panel widths, jointing approach and a material or turnkey package suited to the project schedule.
